Neil P. Westreich retired from Cravath’s Corporate Department in 2006. His practice focused on complex finance matters, including lease and project financing, related, principally, to aircraft and other types of assets, such as satellites, industrial plants and equipment, telecommunications networks and railroad equipment, as well as natural resource and infrastructure projects.
Mr. Westreich also handled a variety of asset‑backed securitizations, involving credit card receivables, pharmaceutical royalties and aircraft lease receivables.
Mr. Westreich was born in New York, New York. After attending Cornell University for two years, he received a B.A. (Honours) from Cambridge University in 1973, a J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1977 and an M.A. from Cambridge University in 1978. In 1975, he was admitted as a Barrister‑at‑Law for England and Wales (through Gray’s Inn), following two years of English legal studies, one at Cambridge University (where he achieved First Class Honours and the top score in the University and was named a “Scholar”) and the other at The College of Law, London (following which he came first on the English Bar Examination).
Mr. Westreich joined Cravath in 1979 and became a partner in 1985. Before joining Cravath, he practiced law with a London-based American law firm.
