Bob Bunton focuses on intellectual property litigation.
Mr. Bunton has extensive experience representing clients in intellectual property matters, including attaining intellectual property rights, pre-complaint investigation, district court litigation and appeals. He also has experience practicing before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
Prior to joining Cravath, Mr. Bunton worked as a systems engineer in the machine tools industry and was then an associate at law firms in New York and Illinois, where he focused on intellectual property and patent law.
Mr. Bunton was raised in Morris, Illinois. He received a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011 and a J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2015.
Mr. Bunton joined Cravath in 2023.

On October 15, 2024, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed an inter partes review (“IPR”) decision by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (“PTAB”) in favor of Cravath client ADT Inc., invalidating all claims of a patent at issue in litigation brought by Vivint, Inc.
