Cravath’s New York Office Moves to Two Manhattan West
“I was very fortunate to be able to work on a number of trials and depositions as both a summer and as an associate, and my responsibilities grew with each one. In my first rotation, our team went to trial on a business tort case in Texas, during which I assisted with depositions and witness books. In my second rotation, I began taking and defending my own depositions, and working with partners on witness books for primary fact and expert witnesses at trial. By the time I was a mid-level associate, during my third rotation, I was taking and defending depositions, handling fact and expert witnesses at trial, and arguing motions.
Because you are able to work within the same group of people during a rotation, the increase in responsibility comes naturally. The partners get to know you, know your skills and know what you can handle. Your responsibilities grow incrementally, so that by the time you’re a senior associate, you truly feel like you can handle anything.
Each of the attorneys I worked with at Cravath had different styles, and I learned tremendously from each of them. Some of the best mentorship I received was working side by side with other associates during my rotations because you are all part of the same team across cases, and you are invested in helping one another succeed.”
