Cravath’s New York Office Moves to Two Manhattan West
On January 24, 2024, Cravath was featured by Law360 as a “Banking Practice Group of the Year.” The article highlights the breadth of the Firm’s work on banking matters across corporate, litigation and regulatory practice areas, including its role representing clients Silvergate in its voluntary self‑liquidation, Morgan Stanley in winning the dismissal of consolidated antitrust suits against it and other major banks and the administrative agent, joint lead arranger and joint bookrunner in connection with the arrangement of $1.33 billion of credit facilities made available to Concentrix Corporation.
Partner Jelena McWilliams described the significance of the Firm’s work for Silvergate, a rare case of “a bank self‑liquidating” which “very few law firms and lawyers have had exposure to.” Jelena also noted how the prior regulatory experience of lawyers in Cravath’s Washington, D.C. office equips them to “not only understand what the legal issue is,” but also to get “to the question of what is good policy,” which strengthens the team’s ability to navigate uncharted issues.
Partners George E. Zobitz and Lauren M. Rosenberg discussed how Cravath’s associate rotation system impacts the success of the practice. Jed praised the broad training that Cravath’s rotation system provides associates, which “facilitates an ability to be creative and come up with structures that work for those unique deals,” and Lauren added that “it also allows us to know our associates really well on our teams … we're able to mentor them much, much more closely than you would in another system.”
