On September 28, 2015, Energy Transfer Equity, L.P. and The Williams Companies, Inc. announced a business combination transaction valued at approximately $37.7 billion, including the assumption of debt and other liabilities. Cravath represented Williams in connection with this transaction. The combination will create the third largest energy franchise in North America and one of the five largest global energy companies.

Cravath represented the underwriters in connection with the $850 million registered senior notes offering of The Sherwin‑Williams Company, a global leader in the manufacture, development, distribution and sale of paint, coatings and related products to professional, industrial, commercial and retail customers. The transaction closed on August 9, 2024.

On October 10, 2023, following a full trial on the merits and an appeal to the Delaware Supreme Court, Cravath client The Williams Companies, Inc. (“Williams”) secured a victory resulting in a judgment of more than $600 million.
